Peak dates come from the International Meteor Organization annual calendar; ZHR (Zenith Hourly Rate) is the theoretical maximum for a zenith radiant and dark sky.
Data source: IMO published annual meteor calendar (public).
User guide
- 1Browse the table of major annual showers.
- 2Aim for the two nights around the peak; observe after midnight for higher rates.
- 3Look 30–60° away from the radiant, not directly at it.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a telescope?+
No — the naked eye sees the widest field, which is what you want for meteors.
