| Mercury | 0.364 | 162.47° |
| Venus | 0.728 | 302.04° |
| Earth | 1.010 | 335.81° |
| Mars | 1.517 | 68.65° |
| Jupiter | 5.294 | 128.60° |
| Saturn | 9.445 | 9.64° |
| Uranus | 19.442 | 62.26° |
| Neptune | 29.878 | 2.46° |
Tool principle
Solves Kepler's equation (M = E − e·sin E) iteratively for each planet using mean orbital elements referenced to J2000, then converts the true anomaly to heliocentric ecliptic longitude.
Data source: Native Keplerian algorithm using standard mean orbital elements.
User guide
- 1Choose a date to compute positions for.
- 2The table lists each planet's distance from the Sun (AU) and heliocentric ecliptic longitude.
- 3Compare longitudes to spot conjunctions (close angular separation).
Frequently asked questions
Are these geocentric positions?+
No — these are heliocentric. For geocentric right-ascension use a planetarium app; this tool targets orbital intuition.
How precise?+
Sub-degree over the current epoch; suitable for planning and education.
